Sunday sketches - The figure of a mother!!!

Another Sunday is here and I'm extremely happy because I can join in again at Sophia's S.S. Preparations for Christmas kept me away from this artist's gathering and I missed you all!!! (even if I glanced once or twice to your work). So my dear friends don't forget to visit Sophia's blog and have a look to the other wonderful artists!!!

Today I have something really special to show you........ my mother (when she was much younger). This time of year with Christmas being few days away, we need our family and what is more importand than our mother and her sweet and encouraging words!!!

This sketch is dedicated to my mother and all the mothers in the world. I wish you the best!!

Sunday sketches - Κυριακάτικα σκίτσα (Cubism-Κυβισμός)

It's Sunday and we are here for one more artistic gathering and all this thanks to Sophia's Blue Chair Diary!!!
If you want to participate just pay a visit to Sophia's blog and enter your name. Of course don't forget to see all the participants and their beautiful and inspiring work.
For today, I decided to show you something I did a few days ago and has to do with Cubism. Even if I'm not a fanatic admirer of this kind of painting I found the entire technique inspiring and quite difficult.
After I did a preliminar sketch, started spliting the image and reordering the pieces... pfffff.... quite messy!

And here is the final painting, I used acrylics on aquarella paper.
I had, a crazy or what, idea to place half moon with stars in the background along with two triangles giving the sense of the universe... One is sure, I was in my own space ...  :)

Να μαι πάλι εδώ με τα Κυριακάτικα σκίτσα μου. Τελικά έγινε μια αγαπημένη συνήθεια και ένας πολύ όμορφος τρόπος επικοινωνίας με ανθρώπους που βρίσκονται πολύ μακρυά αλλά μοιραζόμαστε την ίδια αγάπη για τη ζωγραφική (με τον ένα ή άλλο τρόπο).
Ο παραπάνω πίνακας εντάσσεται στον κυβισμό και για μένα ήταν μια πρωτόγνωρη εμπειρία. Ομολογώ πως αν και δυσκολεύτηκα, το απόλαυσα και ένιωσα πολύ δημιουργικά. Άφησα τη φαντασία μου ελεύθερη και ένιωσα πως ταξίδευα στο... σύμπαν....
Εύχομαι σε όλους μια όμορφη Κυριακή και μια πιο όμορφη εβδομάδα!!!

Sunday sketches

Goodmorning, wake up, wake up... it's Sunday!!!

Here in Ermionida (Peloponissos, Greece) we had a sunny warm week.... pffff....... and in 41 days we have Christmas!! I hope weather will change...

Anyway, my good sketchers (hmmm i don't really know if this word exists :) ) visit Sophia's Blue chair diary  our sweet hostess and you will see amazing drawings!!!
This time my sketch has to do with Ydra a famous Greek island sited at Saronic gulf. Last summer when i visited the island i was inspired by the view and made a quick drawing. Just yesterday i completed it and present it to you!!

Sunday sketches No 7 - Κυριακάτικα σκίτσα (Σύνθεση με κάρβουνο)

It's amazing how quickly pass the days of the week!!! 

This Sunday i'll show you a painting with charcoal. The steps i followed till the final sketch were:

1. I made the initial composition and photographed it. (my art teacher told me that it would be better if i hadn't placed the objects on that floral tablecloth because there are already a lot of little things on the glass etc. )

2. I made a little sketch on a piece of paper and then i started with the main project which was quite difficult. It was a challenge..

Fortunately i received good comments for my technique and that is a relief. 

Now, i'm going to pay a visit to all the artists participating at Sophia's Sunday sketches , something that i always enjoying!!! Come with me and you'll enjoy it too!!! 

Άλλη μια Κυριακή έφτασε και μαζί της η ώρα για το σκίτσο της ημέρας!! 

Αυτή τη φορά σας δείχνω ένα πίνακα που έφτιαξα με κάρβουνο. Αποτελεί εργασία για το μάθημα της ζωγραφικής και η πρόκληση ήταν διπλή αφού έπρεπε να φτιάξω τη δική μου σύνθεση (σύμφωνα με τις οδηγίες του μαθήματος) και να την ζωγραφίσω με την τεχνική που θα επέλεγα. Το κάρβουνο προέκυψε ενστικτωδώς και όπως είπε η δασκάλα μου ήταν σωστή επιλογή.

Sunday sketches No 6 - Κυριακάτικα σκίτσα

Today,  I'll show you a little sketch i did this morning for my art lesson : "The rule of 1/3". Our teacher told us that it is necessary to know how "1/3" affects painting. If we use it correctly then we'll make our paintings interesting to the observers eyes. This rule contains triangles and points created by pulling axes on the painting.
This is what i did:

I placed the vase on the last left 1/3 because the flower goes on the right up 1/3 and so i think there is a balance (i used the diagonal passes from the left corner of the vase to the right flower).

Below is the sketch with colored pencils and it is ready to paint it on canvas.

Αυτή την Κυριακή θα σας δείξω το σκίτσο που έφτιαξα σήμερα το πρωί για το μάθημα της ζωγραφικής με τίτλο: "Ο κανόνας του 1/3". Το νόημα αυτού του μαθήματος είναι: ο πίνακας να έχει το σωστό εστιακό σημείο και το αποτέλεσμα να είναι δυνατό και ισορροπημένο. Έτσι χρησιμοποιώντας κάποια τρίγωνα, σημεία, διαγώνιους κλπ τοποθετούμε τη σύνθεσή μας στον καμβά. Εγώ χρησιμοποίησα τη διαγώνιο που περνά από την αριστερή κάτω γωνία του βάζου και καταλήγει στο δεξί άκρο του πίνακα εκεί που τελειώνει το στριφογυριστό ξύλο. Για να μη σας εμπλέξω όμως περισσότερο με μαθηματικά και υπολογισμούς..... παραπάνω βλέπετε δύο φωτογραφίες του θέματος απλά στη δεύτερη έχω βάλει λίγο χρώμα με χρωματιστά μολύβια για να δω το αποτέλεσμα.

Sunday sketches No 5 - Κυριακάτικα σκίτσα

Goodmorning my blog-friends where ever you are....
I missed you all but i was on vacations and when i returned i had a lot of work to do...... so, two months have passed without participating on Sophia's Sunday sketches.
But from now on i'll be here every Sunday!!
This time I'll show you 6 different sketches I did from the same picture. The photo shows an old bridge (renovated) located in a village called Ziakas in South Pindos (its a Sierra) in Greece.

and my sketches follows:

I made them with a pen (with a fine tip) and i coloured some areas in order to see how the final painting will appear.

 I haven't decided yet wich one i'll do.... mmmm... 

 I'll be very happy if you tell me wich one you prefer, then i'll do the one most voted!!

Αγαπητοί μου φίλοι επέστρεψα (δριμύτερη θέλω να πιστεύω) και από δω και πέρα θα είμαι πιστή στην μπλογκογειτονιά. Μου έλειψε η επικοινωνία μαζί σας!! Έχω χάσει πολλά από τα άρθρα σας και σιγά-σιγά θα καλύψω τα κενά :)
Σ' αυτό το post ανέβασα μια σειρά από έξι σκίτσα πάνω στο ίδιο θέμα. Φυσικά και αυτά αποτελούν εργασία για τα μαθήματα ζωγραφικής που κάνω στο Εικαστικό Καφενείο. Βλέπετε, πως από μια φωτογραφία προκύπτουν έξι διαφορετικά έργα.
Αν θέλετε μπορείτε να μου πείτε πιο απ' αυτά προτιμάτε να ζωγραφίσω!! Στη συνέχεια θα μετρήσω τις ψήφους και το σχέδιο με τις περισσότερες θα μετατραπεί σε πίνακα.

Sunday sketches No 4

I'm so excited because Sunday is here and finally i can post my new sketches!! Last week i wasn't at home so i didn't participate at Sophias S.S..
I hope everyone is feeling good and having a wonderful summer!!
Of course don't forget to visit all participants here in Sophia's blog!!

Well, today i decided to show you myself... how???  by sketching me...
To tell you the truth, it's the first time i'm doing this and especially by looking at me in a mirror. I found it extremely difficult and the result isn't what i expected, (the nose is too long, the eyes too close)  however, i'll keep practicing and who knows.........

The first sketch was made with a 2B pencil, then i used aquarella's pencils and with a wet brush i softened the colors.

Here i am with another Sunday sketch... hope you are fine and having a wonderful day!!

This drawing was made with charcoal. It's the first time using this design tool and i'm excited with the result. With my finger i softened it and appeared a velvet effect. I hope you like it..

Sunday sketches!! No 2

Hello my blogger friends, I hope you are in good mood and having a wonderful Sunday where ever you are.
 Me and my husband have just returned from the sea, where we passed almost all day swiming. We had 35degrees c. here in Ermionida and we coudn't stay at home.  Fortunately, we sat in the shade and enjoyed the sea and the blue sky...
Next time i'll take the sketch book with me and i'll draw the entire area!!... then you will be able to see it!!

This week's Sunday sketch is a part of my home in Athens. Is the place we sit with my husband the cold winder days. Hope you like it...
